Prevent clicks on your own AdSense ads
September 29th, 2005 at 9:34 am
Clicking on your own AdSense ads is strictly prohibited and a violation of Google TOS. If you want to prevent clicks on your own ads I can highly recommend a great Greasemonkey script that will help you not to click on your own ads.
The script currently requires Firefox and Greasemonkey. After installation, it will ask you to enter your AdSense publisher ID which is needed so that the script knows which ads to prevent clicks from.

How to increase your CTR in AdSense
September 27th, 2005 at 1:34 pm
Darren from ProBlogger.net wrote a great post about CTR in Adsense. CTR is click through rate - or the percentage of people that view pages with ads on them that click on them.
If you would like to know, why is comparing CTR between sites a problem or you would like to find out a few ways to to increase your own CTR, then look at Darrens list:
- CTR varies between topics,
- CTR relates to Ad relevancy,
- CTR can vary seasonally,
- CTR varies between reader types,
- CTR varies between ad design and placement options,
- CTR varies depending upon other site design factors,
- CTR varies depending upon other options to ‘click’.

Britney Spears v Angelina Jolie
September 26th, 2005 at 8:22 am
In honor of Elliott and Duncan, I’m going to join the same experiment as they are doing.
Last year Elliott put up a post in relation to Britney Spears to see how will affect on his blog traffic. Since that day he is number one on Blogs of the Day. A few days ago Duncan followed him with his post about Britney Spears to experiment with his traffic. In a week or two he will post publicly the results of the experiment.
Why Britney Spears? According to Google the number one search for all of 2004 was “britney spears”.
