My First Website Deal

February 11th, 2007 at 7:26 pm

At the end of 2006 I wrote My Goals And Wishes for 2007. One of my new years resolutions was to sell at least one website I own. With selling World Cup Corner, in the middle of January 2007, I already achieved my first goal for 2007.

I started World Cup Corner back in June 2005 to make some money and experimenting during the FIFA World Cup in Germany. At the end of 2006 the site was getting more than 50,000 unique visitors, 200,000 page views and was generating around $100 per month. About 50% of revenue came in from Google AdSense. Other income streams were Text Link Ads, Review Me, affiliate sales and Chitika.

The site was sold for $1,100 to the highest bidder at an auction on DP Forums. I didn’t expected to get rich with the deal, so at the end I was pretty pleased to get in almost one year in earnings the site was making.

That’s it, that’s how I made my first goal for 2007. 1 down 7 to go. Which goal will be next? Who knows, but I hope it will be the redesign of this blog.

Nice choice of a theme. I like it more than how it was before : )
I think that you’ve already accomplished “blog more” from the list - I see new entries almost everyday.
Good luck and thanks for interesting content.

Kangax, it looks like you are new here or you are just kidding. The current theme is old as this blog is.

Well done for selling a domain. I have considered doing this but I was never sure whether, after all the hard work promotig it, whether the payment you could get woudl be worth it.
